Manager’s Message.

Hi everyone, my name is Diana Mae Fernandez, manager of the Boogie Bots Crew! I decided to formally introduce myself - because this crew believes in making personal connections to family, friends, and fans. Through the course of playing an integral role within this group, I’ve learned a lot about myself, from each and every individual. We are just like any other crew out there— we struggle with our differences, we skirmish to continuously reinvent ourselves, and we make mistakes along the way. The most important factor is that we learn from one another.. and with that newfound knowledge, we apply it to our personal growth. This not only defines Boogie Bots as a crew, but as a family. Like the best of any families, our crew has our shares of eccentricities, of impetuous and headstrong youth and of family disagreements. However, the crew believes in their own strength, and that’s what I admire most. I strongly affirm that the ones who stand strong will stand forever.

Last week, March 27th, we were invited to perform at Virginia Tech. What an honor it was to perform for a student body whose strength during times of adversity remained undamaged. It was the first time of 2009 that the crew was able to perform together — as a whole.  This reunion meant the world to us. With two days of Ryan and Joesar flying in from the West Coast since last year, they were able to put on a full hour show! Is that transformer power impressive or WHAT? Big shout out to our boy, Jeremy Manongdo aka “Passion” who also headline the show with us, and gave the crowd a special Grand Finale collabo! Check out the videos below in the order it was performed.

Included: Bryan, Karla, Miguel, Joesar, Ryan, Josh, Mike.

[ Individual Piece #2: “Anytime” Choreography by Magic Mike ]

[ Individual Piece #3: “You’ll find a way” Choreography by Joshua Gilmore ]

Bryan East then held a tutting contest, which he choreographed, with the audience members. This was such a fun event to witness! All the guys who were on stage did a great job. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to have clips of it - so if anyone has any, please email them over to us at boogiebotscrew@gmail.com! However, here’s a 5-second video of Bryan interacting with a fan after the show.

The crew then proceeded with their freestyle portion of the evening - each sharing their individuality with the crowd. It’s one thing to watch it on video, but sitting amongst the audience was quite the blessing seeing the real chemistry the crew had together! Boogie Bots looked geuninely thrilled to be performing and enjoying one another’s company. One can’t deny the magnetism the crew has. It was a treat experiencing it live.

And alas, the suprise Grand Finale collabo with Passion! He is SO amazing, and we were certainly blessed to have worked with him. Be on the look out for future collabos/tours! :) Acoustic freestyle — who does that?! The crowd was shouting that Magic Mike should sing, and Passion freestyles. Could you imagine? Haha. Enjoy!

The best part? Was the standing ovation from the crowd!! It got cut off, but the crew was on stage taking a bow, and the audience were screaming ” Encore, Encore! ” It was a humbling moment for each and every one of us. To be reunited with friends to dance together and inspire others… it made us feel so alive. As a manager, I’ve never genuinely been more proud and electrified by their performance than that evening. Thank you, AASU Eboard of Virginia Tech University, and all those involved for such a successful event.

Henry Ford once said, “Coming together is the beginning. Keeping together is a progress. Working together is a success.” With that said — Congratulations crew! You never fail to impress me.

Please join Boogie Bots Crew and their initial familyCulture Shock DC, this upcoming Saturday, April 4th, for their 1st Annual Dance Show Case! A special big thank you to Lisa Geter-Norman. Had it not been for you, none of this would have been possible. On behalf of the crew and myself, our appreciation extends itself to you!
